Went out for a walk with a friend the other night. The plan was to just stroll around outside and have a couple of beers in the hot summer evening. As we sat down on a bench I started to see flashes going off all around us. My friend couldn't see anything. We carried on walking and sat down on yet another bench and then these flashes in the sky started to go off in 10 second intervals.. We had no idea what it was and we didn't think it came from mother nature because the light was so orange looking and there was no sound from these lights. And the third factor: they came in 10 second intervals. We kept on walking to get a better look of what the hell was going on and we stopped when we came to an open field. These orange looking flashing lights just became more and more intense as we stood there looking at them. Then they started showing up from different clouds all around us. It was as if someone used a lightswitch to turn the clouds on and off. We were still pretty convinced that this wasn't caused by nature, but then came the lightning. All around us they came out of the sky, but with an orange hue to them instead of the normal blue/white color. The cloud formations up in the sky were totally awesome too, and it would have made an absolutely awesome photo. It was the most awesome weather I've ever seen. Never seen anything like it in my life. We actually decided to head back home to get my gear, but when we returned the clouds were gone.
I missed it all. The photographic opportunity of a lifetime.
